-dances- The concert was great. Ani was great--fantastic live.

The opening act I didn't care for so much, but it was more because I'm less folk and more rock, but she wasn't bad at all. I forgot her name, I think...Anais Mitchel, I believe. ^^;

Some people in the crowd knew her, so they requested a song. She was all flustered...it was cute actually.

So yeah, we had a little break after Anais and then Ani and her band came out. Everyone was all excited, as they should be, and she opened with Anticipate. Not my favourite, but a good agressive kind of song. I can't remember the order of the setlist, but I do remember she sang her song about Obama's Inauguration ('November 4th 2008') and 'Your Next Bold Move.'

She then performed 'Fuel' which I absolutely love, love, love. I'm madly in love with her spoken pieces, so 'Fuel' was a dream to hear. That was one song I never thought I'd get to hear live, so that was really exciting.

There were some requests ('Garden of Simple' which was really old. I never really gave it a full listen either. ^^;) and then an obvious scream for 'Gravel', which was satisfied. And then she sang a bunch of new songs, which almost all focus more or so upon love, getting older and such...they were more folk-sounding, but lovely nonetheless. I never gave 'Present/Infant' a full listen, but I really like it now.

So yeah, a whole bunch of new songs...and then a cover of a Florence Reese-penned song, 'Which Side Are You On', which Ani had 'updated' a little bit. It got a couple people up and dancing and yelling and such. That was a fun sight. ;DD

Some more new songs...but none that I could possibly name. Then she left and we all stood up, clapping and screaming, and she came running back out for the encore, wherein she sang 'Evolve' and '32 Flavors' because, really, how can you go to fucking Ani DiFranco show and not hear that song live? It was great. I felt satisfied at that.

I mean, I would totally have a loved a bunch more older songs, like ones from Dilate and Little Plastic Castle. Angela said she would have loved to hear 'Two Little Girls' (as I would have as well). I would have loved to hear some of the classics, like 'Untouchable Face', 'Napoleon', 'Loom' and 'Shy.'

But all in all, I'm pretty satisfied with the show. Lotsa fun. (If you ever get a chance to see her, do so--don't be afraid of the lesbians. =D we only eat women.)

In other news...Poor Rosie was so scared of getting her needles today. She did really well up until we actually had to get them done, wherein tears and lots of anxiety came through. Although she didn't want to get them at school, I think that'd probably be the best option, since seeing everyone else go through the same thing would probably be a little bit calming. Also, I think it'd be easier to keep your cool when you don't want to appear wimpy or anything in front of all your peers.
